Digital platforms for the sale of fast food have experienced high growth in recent years. However, there are still human, technological and idiosyncratic factors that limit the extension of this practice, particularly in Portoviejo. A mixed qualitative-quantitative approach was used to collect data on the use of this type of platform in the commercialization of food among users and entrepreneurs. Allowing a better understanding from the point of view of each user segment that can be favored by this type of service. The results show that this type of service has a high acceptance but there are still problems that prevent its proper development. Mainly factors of cultural origin, technological access and confidence in distribution mechanisms are still limiting the growth and scope of digital platforms in the analyzed environment.
