Digitalization has emerged as a key catalyst for improving operational efficiency in family farming, offering tangible benefits in terms of productivity, sustainability and resilience in the face of current and future agricultural challenges. Digitalization in agriculture offers multiple benefits, such as optimizing resource management through the use of technologies such as sensors and geographic information systems. These tools allow farmers to accurately monitor soil and climate conditions, reducing input waste and increasing productivity. The objective of the research is to evaluate the impact of digitalization on the operational efficiency of family farmers, from a sustainable agricultural development perspective. The methodology of the study was defined with a non-experimental design, descriptive scope and qualitative approach. A bibliometric analysis was carried out, where documentary analysis and the analytical-synthetic method were used. The result was a sustainable agricultural development strategy based on digitalization, which has phases and activities, to promote the operational efficiency of family farmers. This is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, contributing to goals such as the eradication of poverty, zero hunger and decent work. It is concluded that by optimizing resource management, facilitating access to information and specialized knowledge, and opening new market opportunities, digitalization can contribute significantly to the development and sustainability of the agricultural sector in Ecuador.
