Abstract

Xerosis is a dermatological condition caused by genetic and/or environmental factors, characterized by excessive transepidermal water loss from the skin, which causes extreme dryness in those who suffer from it. For the purpose of this work, an aesthetic treatment was performed on a 13-year-old male patient from the city of Quito, Ecuador, who presented the characteristic signs and symptoms of an alteration called "X-linked ichthyosis." Specifically in this case, the treatment was performed on the upper extremities (arms), using only non-invasive techniques, performing a total of 13 sessions, where in each of them different equipment was used such as electroporator, galvanic current, brushing, ultrasonic palette and microdermabrasion; as well as active ingredients such as collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, lactic acid, among others. Throughout the treatment, a photographic record was made, where the results can be seen with the naked eye; in addition, through a test using a physical method, it was possible to count the number of pieces of the stratum corneum that came off at the beginning and end of the treatment, obtaining an improvement of 76.47%. Based on all this, the protocol carried out presented extremely satisfactory results, demonstrating that despite being a condition of genetic origin, with the necessary treatment and care, a great improvement can be achieved and also improve the quality of life of those who suffer from this alteration.
