Abstract

The use of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems has become an essential aspect for the efficient management of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), which have adopted ERP solutions based on open source software has been reduced, due to the lack of knowledge about this technology. The different paradigms that have emerged around the implementation of open source enterprise resource planning software have focused on the challenges and opportunities perceived by entrepreneurs in the region. The analysis carried out has shown that one of the main reasons why companies chose to train in this type of software was due to the economical and free costs and the possibility of customizing the platform according to their specific needs. Unlike proprietary solutions with paid licenses, open source software has offered greater flexibility and adaptability, allowing companies to adjust their operations more efficiently to constant changes in the business and technological environment. Having promoted initiatives that have promoted collaboration between the public and private sectors has facilitated a broader and more effective adoption of these rarely used cutting-edge technologies in the region.
