Bioethics in clinical laboratories in times of the Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

As a result of the pandemic generated since 2019 by SAR-CoV2, the deficiencies of health systems came to light, medical support centers such as clinical laboratories, saw their work affected by the health crisis. Where they faced, like the patients, administrative problems, lack of economic resources, insufficient supplies, few medical personnel, inflexible work schedules, moral factors, were clearly affected. Working with patients positive for Covid-19 requires the empathetic work of professionals when making decisions and communicating procedures. Inpatients in hospital centers are far from their families, devaluing their state of mind. The health professional must have knowledge of bioethics implanted in their academic training, which accompany their scientific and technical knowledge to provide the user with optimal work during all its development phases. Bioethics committees ensure that the practice of health professionals remains within the standards of respect and integrity of people, where their opinion is valued and included in decision-making.
