Abstract

Neoplasms are the main cause of an increase in the mortality rate of the general population. Colorectal cancer is one of the most common neoplasms that affects both men and women depending on different risk factors; it derives from a complex pathophysiological mechanism, which triggers a series of structural changes and normal functioning of the organism. Clinically, for years, it is asymptomatic when the adenoma develops; the appearance of symptoms is relevant when it is in an advanced period of the disease. Due to its incidence in the population, it meets the necessary requirements to initiate screening for early detection through different invasive and non-invasive methods. The present work of bibliographic review has a documentary and bibliographic design based on original and experimental scientific articles with a focus on the different diagnostic methods, evaluating the importance of the fecal occult blood test and its early detection in colorectal cancer screening.
