Leather surface treatments for the development of accessories for the San José tannery company

Abstract

The objective of this article is to develop different surface treatments on leather, adequately analyzing the characteristics of each one to define the appropriate one and with this, developing several samples on the leather once the most optimal surface treatment has been established. A bibliographic review of the main theoretical references related to the object of study was carried out, in order to know which and how many types of treatments there are that are applicable to leather, and to highlight those that can be adapted and carried out. An exploratory methodology focused on a little-known or studied topic was used. In addition to complementing the research with Archer's methodology, which has three phases: analytical phase, creative phase and execution phase. After collecting the information about the surface treatments on leather, the data was classified and saved in the experiment sheet. After experimenting with the different surface treatments, the sketching process began, together with the owner of the Tenería San José. The designs were selected for manufacturing, with changes or suggestions. The most optimal treatments were applied and the resistance was checked for its manufacture and for the creation of the collection.

After gathering information about the surface treatments for leather, the data is selected and stored in the experimentation record, where specific data is chosen. After experimenting with different surface treatments, the sketching process begins. Designs are selected in collaboration with the owner of Tenería San José for manufacturing, with possible changes or suggestions. Then, the leather is prepared for use by applying the most optimal treatments while also verifying their durability for manufacturing purposes. Finally, the collection is realized.
